I am Lawyerdude. Here is my story:
I am Douglas Palaschak. I am a lawyer, engineer, and farmer. You can reach me at dlawyerdude@hotmail.com . You can call me at 805-652-0334. My life has been repeatedly disrupted by groundless raids and arrests in the past 10 years. The most recent was in 1999.
I enjoyed an idyllic childhood on a rich farm in the heartland. Most of the folks that I knew are still there in the same houses on the same farms enjoying a peaceful prosperous life in a beautiful serene clean environment without the problems of the big city.
The one non-family-member who did more for me than anybody else was Sherwood Jackson, my Vo-Ag teacher and publicist for 4 years at Seneca High school. Sherwood took me aside at Freshman orientation. I had planned not to do Vo-Ag. Sherwood gave me the straight scoop: Vo-Ag was the hot ticket! There are a ton of success stories from Seneca FFA guys! - and Girls now too! He got me into public speaking contests as a Freshman. He saw to it that I went to Kansas City to play in the band there. I was first in my class - and Sherwood always wrote a press release when I did something good. My brother Jerry and I both got the Greenhand Award and the Star Chapter Farmer award (although it is my youngest brother Greg who now runs the family farm). In 1996-1998 we 3 brothers and my Dad farmed together. It was tremendous fun! Lots of us enjoyed the band. Here is the link to the Seneca Township High Band. I went on to march in the Undisputed Premiere Marching Band in the Universe: The Marching Illini! Here is the link to the Marching Illini: http://www.bands.uiuc.edu/MI/ Look for the link to Entrance #3 - 1964 Edition. I guarantee that you will like it - if you are a marching band person. We were 240 strong then. It was awesome to march to Memorial Field. We barely fit down some of the streets.
FBI Raids my Illinois Farm House
On Friday 14 May 1999 at about noon, my brother Jerry and I were returning from the tractor store to our farm home in Streator, Illinois. We saw 3 Ford Crown Victoria's in the driveway and knew that the FBI had finally come to get me. FBI Agent Timothy Eley arrested me for felony flight to avoid prosecution for writing a petition. I tried to explain to him that the first amendment protects speech, press, and petition but he said that he did not want to hear about it. He was polite but firm - and I found out just this week that Sheriff Tom Templeton of LaSalle County was one of the other 4 men rummaging through my living room when I walked into the house. I was held on $250,000 bail and eventually flown back to Ventura, California where I was released on my own recognizance by Judge Clark after I had already served 4 actual months in jail - which is equivalent to a 6 month sentence. I had a jury trial and was found not guilty. The jury took only 2 hours to deliberate. I have a link (below this paragraph) to my argument in that case. The authorities laughed at me when I asked them for a ride back home to Illinois. When I got home I found that strange people had moved into my house. Some of my possessions were in a machine shed and some were simply gone. My brother Jerry's stuff was gone also. I sued the FBI and everybody who had anything to do with this. The story is told in more detail in the Federal section 1983 civil rights complaint 4055 which you can access on one of the links below. On this site I have some of the legal papers in this case and I shall upload more as time goes by. I am looking for some legal assistance - and also I am happy to help people with similar problems. Often we can get things done better by sharing the work.
